Two of the ACC's best-projected teams that aren't the ACC's brand names, separated by two spots in our ratings, meeting in a physical late-October game that will decide real conference positioning. The projection — Pitt by a field goal at home — is close enough that either team walking out with it wouldn't be an upset.
The appeal is the profile of the football. These are two programs built to grind: they'll run it, they'll play defense, and they'll make the game come down to a handful of possessions in the fourth quarter. That's not the version of college football that gets a prime slot on the national broadcast. It is, reliably, the version that produces the best games.
